The Minnesota Lakes and Rivers Advocates’ first ever VIRTUAL Summit is an online learning experience that provides professional education to those unable to attend in person.  Held on both days, Feb. 28 – Mar. 1, 2018, this virtual event will offer two days of sessions streamed to your computer. You may choose from two tracks in each Breakout Session. There is something for everyone!  The event will be held online so that virtual attendees can participate from anywhere they have access to a computer and the internet.

$99 per person Early Bird Rate (until January 14, 2018)

$119 per person Regular Rate (after January 14, 2018)

Refund Policy for Virtual Registrations

Full refunds are given only if a written cancellation request is received by Feb. 1, 2018.
A 50-percent refund is given if written notice is received between Feb. 2 – 26, 2018.
Individuals who do not give a written notice to MLR  prior to Feb. 27, 2018 will not receive a refund.

Summit at a Glance (Virtual)

We have hand-picked the individuals who will lead the sessions at the Summit. These speakers were chosen because of their reputation and expertise in our field. Here is a preview of some of the speakers you can expect:

Day 1: February 28, 2018

  • 9:00 – 11:30 am – Plenary: AIS in a Changing World

    Retired WCCO news anchor Don Shelby, will address the impacts of changing weather patterns on AIS spread. The panel discussion following, moderated by Mr. Shelby, will include nationally recognized experts who will explore the many forces impacting our lakes, including declining fisheries, AIS, warmer weather, changing hydrology and increasing nutrient loading, and how these forces are inter-related.

  • 11:30 am – 1:00 pm – Lunch – Informal Presentation on the role of civics in protecting our water resources with tools you can use to build strong local advocacy for water in your community.
    • 1:00 – 2:30 pm – Breakout One

      Track Two* – Mandatory Regional AIS Inspection/Decon – A MN Pilot Project Update
      Track Three* – Concordia Study – Who Are MN Lake Associations and What Do They Do

    • 2:45 – 4:15 pm – Breakout Two

      Track Two* – Assessing the Spread of AIS in Minnesota
      Track Three* – AIS in the Schools – Curriculum to Engage Local Students

  • 9:00 – 10:15 am – Plenary: Legal Panel Led by National Sea Grant Legal Center – Role for County Attorneys in AIS Prevention and Increase Consistency Across Jurisdictions.
    • 10:30 am – 12:00 noon – Breakout Four

      Track One* – Fisheries – What Are the Future Projections for Fisheries Management?
      Track Two* – Progress and Results of Initiative Foundation AIS Innovation Grants
